Trauma affects every one of us — whether personally experienced or absorbed through witnessing the suffering of others. And yet, for something so universal, it often remains unspoken and misunderstood.

In this immersive 60-minute seminar, Nadine McNeil — yoga teacher, author, and somatic experiencing practitioner-in-training — unpacks the interwoven layers of ancestry, embodied trauma, and healing. As a woman of color who has spent much of her life navigating spaces where she often stood alone in terms of ethnicity and identity, Nadine brings a deeply personal lens to this conversation.

Together, we’ll explore:
- What trauma really is: a delayed physiological and emotional response to an overwhelming event

- How trauma often resurfaces unexpectedly, triggered by seemingly unrelated experiences

- Why some trauma may never fully "heal" — and how we can learn to live and grow through it

- The impact of ancestral and racialized trauma, drawing on the work of Resmaa Menakem and others

- Why racialism is not a cognitive experience, but an embodied one — and how this affects our relationships with ourselves and others

- The role of somatic practices, mindfulness, and compassionate awareness in beginning

- the healing process

This seminar also includes practical tools and reflections for beginning or deepening your own journey with somatic awareness, ancestral inquiry, and healing. A Q&A session will close the hour, creating space for shared dialogue and community learning.

As Nadine beautifully reminds us:

“When one of us suffers, we all suffer. But when one of us heals, we all heal.”
