Sekala is a captivating music project spearheaded by Adam Alydrus, a multi-instrumentalist, Luthier, music producer, and composer from Kalimantan, Indonesia. Combining traditional Indonesian music with global influences, Sekala blends world music, ethnic rhythms, and electronic sounds to create a truly immersive sound experience. The project invites listeners on a sonic journey that explores Indonesia’s rich cultural tapestry while integrating global perspectives and innovative soundscapes.

Sekala’s sound is a fusion of traditional Indonesian melodies, ethnic rhythms, and electronic beats. The group’s music blends influences from across the archipelago and the world, telling stories inspired by real-life experiences. The rich textures of traditional instruments such as the kendang, gamelan, and suling, alongside the electronic elements, create an otherworldly sonic landscape. The live performance of Sekala is an immersive experience, transporting audiences to different parts of Indonesia and beyond.

Adam is the creative force behind Sekala. A seasoned producer and composer, Adam plays various traditional and modern instruments, including his self-invented instrument, the Indulung. His approach fuses the ethnic traditions of Indonesia with innovative, genre-blending production.

Putu is a master of Indonesia’s rich traditional instruments, with a special focus on the Kendang Sunda. His deep connection to Bali’s music culture brings an authentic touch to the band’s performances, adding rich textures and rhythms.
• Ajie Sang Ajie (Jakarta) – Percussionist & Handpan master
Ajie brings a unique flavor to Sekala with his expertise in percussion and wind instruments. His specialty, the handpan, adds ethereal and mesmerizing sounds to the mix, enhancing the band’s atmospheric and emotional appeal.
