Staff prop techniques
For all skill levels. Props provided.

“To be a true yogi, one must be proficient in flow arts”

Learn about the sacred geometry of movement, the foundation of yoga, temple dance, fire dancing, and all flow arts through the principles of staff and poi. Quickly learn the fundamentals to relate to all objects with a new confidence and ability to express yourself.

Whether with just your body or props like a stick, broom, sword, feather, flower, or a fan, all use the same fundamental principles of geometric figure 8’s and planes around the body.  By learning on flow prop, you essentially learn all. With Forest’s 25 years of experience, you will learn very quickly with good techniques that will serve you for many years in all your movements.

When you imagine a monk, wizard, or yoga master, most people envision a wise person with a staff. Since as far back as we can remember, the staff has been an essential tool for survival and for learning about the body. To truly know yoga, one must go to its root. Much evidence indicates that yoga and many dance forms originated from staff and thereafter, spear and sword.

There is strong evidence that our bodies were formed specifically for using staff. The way our bones, muscles, tendons, joints and ligaments are formed is perfectly designed to wield a staff with maximum effectiveness. The only ancestors who survived were the ones who could wield the staff, spear and sword.

After thousands of years of evolution, we have been perfectly formed by the use of the magical staff and the sacred geometry of the movements necessary in using an object that moves in planes, circles, and toroidal patterns around the nucleus of the body. This could be the reason why our body formed in a golden mean geometric progression.

From the roots of staff spear and sword, yoga evolved and our bodies with it as a necessity for survival.  When we return to our roots, it is not learning something new, but more a process of remembering ancestral knowledge.
